NSS HISTORIC MEMBER ARCHIVES & LIBRARY

The NSS archival library, which dates back to the mid 1800s, is the single repository of many rare photos, correspondence, original documents, and feature articles. One of a kind items from sculptors such as Daniel Chester French (Lincoln Memorial in Washington D.C.), Augustus St. Gaudens (Shaw Memorial, Boston), and over 400 other great American sculptors currently reside in our archives.

The history of our organization is preserved in meeting minutes, exhibition catalogs, membership booklets, news bulletins and issues of Sculpture Review.

In addition to our archives, the NSS library includes approximately 700 books dealing with subjects such as art history, sculpture techniques, public sculpture, medallic sculpture and animal sculpture. Books on individual sculptors, architects and artists are also part of the collection.

Currently, much of the NSS archives and library is in storage. If you have a question about a past member, please send us an e-mail through the Contact heading and we will respond with any available information.

Below is an archive of deceased elected members of the National Sculpture Society dating back to its founding in 1893. The archives are ordered based on the last name of the members. To search for an artist simply click the first letter of the last name in the navigation table below.

NSS members in this archive fall into one of the following categories.

F: Fellows
M: Sculptor Members
CM: Corresponding (foreign) Members
AP: Allied Professional Members
