FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

We are often asked the following questions about our scholarship, competition and other programs. Hopefully, you will find the answer to your question here.

1) I am a high school student. Am I eligible for the scholarship?

It is suggested that students take at least one college level art class before applying.

I am not a US citizen. Am I eligible for the scholarship?

Scholarship monies are for students attending accredited American educational institutions (college, university, art school). However, they do not have to be located in the United States. You are eligible if you plan to attend any accredited American educational institution either here in the US or abroad.

3) I create objects (furniture, jewelry, etc.,) that are not strictly speaking sculpture. Am I eligible to apply for the scholarship or the competition?

The selection committee is looking for work that is primarily "sculptural" in nature. The selection committee is looking for work that is primarily "sculptural" in nature. If you feel that your furniture, jewelry or other craft is primarily sculptural, then please apply.

4) What is the application procedure for Elected Sculptor Membership?

5) I am 86 years old, but I only began sculpting in recent years. Am I eligible for the National Competition for Figurative Sculpture (Figure Modeling Competition and Dexter Jones Award)?

Sorry, but you are not eligible. Only sculptors ages 18 - 39 are eligible.
