The National Sculpture Competition is a two-part competition. Entrants may participate in either or both parts, and should indicate their
preference on their application.
PART ONE: YOUNG SCULPTOR AWARDS: These awards are decided on the basis of slides of work submitted.
Participating artists need not be present in order to be considered for these awards; notification will be made by mail if
they do not choose to participate in the on-site figure-modeling competition (Part Two). The winners of these awards will be
chosen according to the following criteria:
Dexter Jones Award: $1000
Given to a young sculptor for the best work of sculpture in bas-relief.
Roger T. Williams Prize: $750
Awarded to a young sculptor who reaches for excellence in representational sculpture.
Edward Fenno Hoffman Prize: $350
Awarded to a young sculptor who strives to uplift the human spirit through the medium of his/her art.
Gloria Medal: Designed by C. Paul Jennewein
Given for a meritorious body of work.
PART TWO: THE FIGURE MODELING CONTEST: The objective is to successfully model a full-length figure from life in 28 hours. This involves a five-day stay in the area. No more than eighteen sculptors will be selected from the submission pool to participate in the modeling competition.

The Walter and Michael Lantz Prize: $750
The Elizabeth Gordon Chandler Prize: $300
The Walker Hancock Prize: $1,000
