NATIONAL SCULPTURE SOCIETY'S ARCHIVAL LIBRARY

Since its creation over 100 years ago the NSS archival library has been the single repository of many rare photos, personal letters, correspondence, one of a kind original documents, feature articles and of course a wonderful collection of books dealing with every aspect of sculpture. One of a kind items from sculptors such as Daniel Chester French (Lincoln Memorial in Washington D.C.), Augustus St. Gaudens (Shaw Memorial, Boston), and over 400 other great American sculptors currently reside in our archives.

The history of our organization is preserved in over 30 notebooks which contain NSS’ meeting minutes dating from our inception to today. Previous exhibition catalogs, membership booklets, news bulletins and issues of Sculpture Review are also stored in our archives.

In addition to our archives, we have approximately 700 books dealing with subjects such as art history, sculpture techniques, public sculpture, medallic sculpture and animal sculpture. Books on individual sculptors, architects and artists are also part of the collection.

As such, the NSS archival library is a key resource which historians, sculptors, scholars, writers, students and the general public turn to when they need information about the rich history of American sculpture.

The NSS archival library is open to the general public by appointment.
