Sculpture Celebration Weekend The 2011 Sculpture Celebration Weekend was a big success! Sculptors, curators and patrons gathered from across the U.S. to enjoy various events. The weekend started off with the dedication of Carl Paul Jennewein Place. Carl Paul Jennewein, past president of NSS, had a studio in the Bronx for 50 years. The following night, we gathered at the Metropolitan Museum of Art for a tour of the Greek and Roman Galleries. Participants also enjoyed the view at a cocktail reception held on the Cantor Roof. On Saturday, Karen Lemmey and Jeff Richman gave a unique sculpture tour of The Green-Wood Cemetery. Bas-reliefs by Augustus Saint-Gaudens, the Azrael statue by Solon Borglum, and the DeWitt Clinton Memorial by Henry Kirke Brown are just a few of the sculptures they spoke about. The weekend ended with the Honors and Awards Dinner at the National Arts Club. NSS honored Kate Brockman for her commitment to sculpting and honored Richard J. Moylan and Jim Jennewein for their service to NSS.
